Purpose

The purpose of this site in general and this blog in particular is to communicate the perspective of someone with my relatively unique background.

This background is informed by three singular experiences, in no order:

• Time spent as a research mathematician in a group of top-tier dynamism--my advisor Sergey Denisov and I worked essentially in affiliation with the harmonic analysts at UW-Madison.
• Time spent as the lead (first and, for much of the time, only) machine learning scientist on the business side of the Milwaukee Brewers, building and delivering software products in a business that had very little experience receiving them.
• Time and dedication poured into athletics, especially the sport of rowing.

These three things (as of mid 2018) combine to essentially constitute my perspective, which tends towards the radical and dramatic. Desire to hammer beauty out of the fundamental chaos surrounding us is a recurring theme, and one that leaves little room for much of what we deem relevant or useful, socially speaking. Expect some polemics, insults and negativity. But also an earnest attempt at finding a direction forward.
